Seasonal Information – Late Spring/Summer
Late spring and summer are critical times to give extra care to landscaping. As your landscaper, we recommend scheduling the following services:
Lawn Care
- Apply a second application of crabgrass pre and post-emergent weed control in late spring.
- Apply broadleaf weed control in April or May, then spot spray again in summer as needed.
- Start up irrigation system, adjust heads to the desired spray pattern, and set the run time based on the amount of rain fall we are receiving. It is best to water in the early morning.
- Continue weekly mowing, trimming and edging of hard surfaces.
- Monitor turf area for insects and disease, and treat if necessary.
Plants and Beds
- Maintain the edge along your planting beds to keep a clean, crisp border.
- Prune all spring flowering shrubs (azaleas, etc.) after they finish blooming.
- Prune shrubs and ground cover three or four times throughout the spring, summer and early fall to maintain a neat appearance.
- Install summer annuals in May or June.
